Endless Winter…
by Duane ~ May 16th, 2011. Filed under: Mammoth. On FB the other day, Mammoth Mountain posted a new term: May-bruary. Thus far (and yes it is ONLY May) Mammoth mountain has had more snow than any previously monitored season. If, like us, you love to ski, you might say Halelujah. If, on the other hand, you’re trying to arrange a wedding in Mammoth, it might be a a very cold, snowy wedding. In July.
The people we’ve talked to from the mountain are now saying they may keep a lift or two running until AUGUST. Now I’ve heard that people have skied the top in August in the past, but c’mon folks, our little chapel in the woods may not be available next July due to snow. So, if you’re going to join us, bring your parka and some snowshoes…
Sheesh!

Oh yes, the locals are getting restless here. It’s May 23rd at the time of this writing and it’s still COLD!!!
Great advice to remind your guests of a variety of weather conditions. I have sat at the Lakefront Restaurant on the Fourth of July in front of a fire drinking hot toddies and watching it snow outside!

Thanks Christie,
I’m not a local but I’ve got 34 days on the slopes so far this year. Looks like I’ll be skiing on July 4th and possibly longer. 2 Much Snow? No such thing! But then I don’t live in it…
